So...I am essentially finished my book and I want to take the next step, find an editor/agent and give it some legs. I feel ready, and then I don't....I love it and then I'm not sure...I know that I need to be committed to it and to the process... I just don't know how to do it. I spent my entire day reading it from beginning to end yesterday, and I know there are a few things that need tweaking, but overall...I'm so proud of it.
But, describing it in a query letter...so difficult because there are things that HAPPEN in the story, but WHAT THE STORY IS ABOUT can't really be described by the things that happen.   The things that happen compliment the story, ignite the story, illustrate the story, but the ultimate message is something I can't describe effectively for some reason.
I have been reading these query letter things and they really want you to cut and dry claim that it's "chick-lit" or "romantic comedy" or "mystery"...and my book kinds of has so many elements I feel that labelling it in any matter denegrates it.  Is that fair to say?
I need a business manager.  That's it.
