HOME-SHARE SERVICE LAUNCHES PROGRAM AMID CHARGES OF HAIR-ISM
Airbnb may have to rethink its “belong anywhere” slogan as people question whether it’s doing enough to crack down on discrimination.
The home- sharing service that’s supposed to open doors worldwide is accused of slamming them shut on those with diverse haircuts. The latest allegation, made public Sunday, involved Steve Ramos from Akron Ohio who claims he was turned away because of his Allman brothers hair.
I offered em cash, said Ramos. What the fuck dude?
Black Airbnb users have shared their stories under the hashtag #AirbnbMoHair. A black man is suing for discrimination, alleging Airbnb did nothing when he was rejected because of his hair.
‘Cash dont mean nuthin no more? I drive on out. I hand it to you. We straight. This some bullshit. They be trippin cause I be stylin like Rick James or somethin?
Cheung Chen a local businessman says he too was rejected because of his hair.

The fast-growing San Francisco company employs very few males with diverse hair styles.
Airbnb, which sports a $ 25.5 billion valuation, serves markets all over the globe, but its staffers are not nearly so representative. In October, Airbnb reported that the male workforce hair is 60% Executive, 17% Undercut, 12% Afro 10% Bowl, only 1% El Debarge. and Shaved/Tatoo.
Monday, Airbnb said a program is in the works to break the mold. “We are determined to attract and retain people with diverse kids of hair,” said Mike Curtis, Airbnb’s vice president.
