At first, I couldn’t believe President Donald Trump was actually pulling the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement.
I thought the decision was misguided and insane. It ignores the severe threat of climate change to our planet, isolates us from nearly the entire world, and diminishes our country’s global leadership.
But then Trump said “believe me” about the deal being bad, so now I believe him.
Before, I didn’t think it made sense when Trump said other countries would be allowed to manufacture more than the U.S., since each country set its own rules in the agreement, but then he said “believe me,” so now I think it’s unfair that China can build more coal plants than us.
Before, I thought the job loss statistics Trump cited were biased and didn’t account for the potential economic benefit of green jobs, but then he said “believe me,” so now I’m glad he pulled out and saved us millions of jobs.
Before, I thought the 0.2 degrees Celsius of less warming estimated by 2100 would be a good start, but then he said “believe me” so now I think it’s tiny and insignificant.
I could go on and on, but in summary, President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris accord was brilliant. Finally, we have a president who puts America and American jobs first.
Make America Great Again!
