The NFL has suspended sports commentator Bill Simmons after he went on a rant on his podcast calling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a liar. According to Bleacher Report, Simmons is suspended from ESPN for three weeks after saying the following:
Goodell, if he didn’t know what was on that tape, he’s a liar. I’m just saying it. He is lying. If you put him up on a lie detector test, that guy would fail. For all these people to pretend they didn’t know is such [expletive] [expletive]. It really is, it’s such [expletive] [expletive]. For him to go into that press conference and pretend otherwise—I was so insulted.
Goodell also dared ESPN to call him out on it, and unfortunately, ESPN can never resist a dare.
ESPN claims they handed down the lengthy suspension (longer by half than what Ray Rice got from the NFL for beating a woman unconscious) for two reasons: One, because he called them out; and two, because he offered no proof for his accusation, which, hahahaha. Come on, ESPN. The fact that Roger Goodell is a liar is literally the one thing about football that everybody knows. I don’t even know how many points a touchdown is, and even I know Goodell’s a sack of shit.
