Of the many shocking revelations in Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside The Trump White House, President Trump’s eating habits and undying affinity for McDonald’s stood out as a notable one.
According to the book, Trump eats McDonald’s so often not just because he loves the food, but also since it’s anonymously pre-made, as he has a paranoia of getting poisoned.
To top it off, Trump apparently likes to retire to bed by 6:30 PM, with, of course, a McDonald’s cheeseburger with him.
So on Monday, McDonald’s sensed an opportunity with its name fresh in the news, and unleashed a friendly tweet-storm at the President, even offering him free McDonald’s for life.
Yeah, seriously. Apparently they thought this would be a good idea. Check out the tweets for yourself.
Apparently McDonald’s didn’t realize that President Trump is an extremely polarizing figure with very low nationwide approval— not someone you’d typically want your brand to rally around.
The tweets have been deleted now, but as we all know, the internet is forever. We’ll have to see how this ordeal affects McDonald’s’ sales, but it probably won’t be for the better.
