The New York Times will be eliminating about 100 positions from their newsroom, they announced in an article by someone who’s probably about to be laid off. “The job losses are necessary to control our costs and to allow us to continue to invest in the digital future of The New York Times, but we know that they will be painful both for the individuals affected and for their colleagues,” Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and Chief Executive Mark Thompson said in a statement.

The Times did not go into detail about which departments will feel the bite of the axe, but I have a funny feeling that “Fancy People Getting Married” and “Insanely Expensive Apartments Presented as Good Deals” will continue to be just fine.
