Description: Apparently the censorship board wasn't too keen on lines like "fart in your general direction." Stiffs.
Prior to its theatrical release, Monty Python and the Holy Grail was screened by a member of the British Board of Film Classification, who, like the square he probably was, set out to ruin everyone's fun, chiming in on what needed to be cut for it to receive the proper rating. Thanks to Letters of Note, we get some insight into the correspondence between Holy Grail's producers and their thoughts on the censor's decision.

On a side note, fuck this censor guy, right? Why would anyone go into a career where their responsibility is attending screenings of future comedy classics and then saying "I'd prefer it if there were less farts in one's general direction."
