"TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY" BAFFLES ADULT FILM INDUSTRY

Spy drama is no easy task for adults-only adaptation

LOS ANGELES –     While the Colin Firth – Gary Oldman spy drama may be receiving critical and commercial success, “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” is causing quite the conundrum for the team of adult movie producers currently trying to find a title for the film’s erotic offshoot.

“I’ll admit it, it hasn’t at all been easy,” says Rick Huge, the director and producer of the adult film industry’s “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” tie-in.

Just days from the DVD release and subsequent online distribution he admits that they’re as strapped for ideas as ever when it comes to making up a dirty pun that somewhat sounds like that movie’s title.

“It’s such a bizarre case,” added Huge, exasperated. “The title is far too long. Great movie, but it doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue. And when was the last time you saw a title that was just four random nouns in a row?”

It’s been a trudging uphill battle as idea after idea has ultimately been rejected, to almost no avail.

“For quite a while there it was going to be “Stinker Tailor Soldier Spy” until I watched the final edit of the film and realized there wasn’t nearly enough butt stuff to justify that,” explains Huge.

Other titles such as “Tinker Nail Her Soldier Spy” or “Tinker Tailor Soldier Pie” were dismissed as either “too confusing” or “really stretching”.

Huge has put a serious amount of pressure on himself for this film to do well. “I’m a big fan of the source material, so this project is important to me. The title has to be perfect, whether we decide to go outright explicit or cleverly innuendo-ridden.  I want a title that can spark the interest of fans of the original miniseries, cinephiles and critics who enjoyed the new flick, and people who really want to get off at 3 in the afternoon.”

His team may be stressed, but they remain optimistic. They’re hot on the heels of coming up with a title for the adult adaptation of “Martha Marcy May Marlene”, one so absolutely filthy it can’t even be reprinted in this family publication.

At press time Huge disclosed he thinks their best candidate so far, given the situation and film’s content, was “Wanker Tailor Soldier Spy”, although his team of writers seemed to agree upon that very half-heartedly with an air that suggests they think they could do better.
