So, Stephen Hawking claims that intelligent alien life forms "almost certainly exist", but warns that communication with them could be 'too risky."  He compares a visit from E.T s to the arrival of Columbus to the Americas "which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans".  He even goes so far as to speculate that advanced life forms may be "nomads looking to conquer and colonize."
I'm disappointed in his lack of confidence in humans, quite frankly.  For all we know, we've been dreaming up all these "War Of The World" scenarios all the while the reason we haven't met our alien neighbors is because Bitches don't even have FIRE, yet!!
Why is it always assumed that we'll be out witted, and temporarily paralyzed by their "advanced" intelligence, weapons etc, and never assumed that they might be curious about us in a non creepy way and also respect out accomplishments as we would theirs?
I mean, COME ON!  From crawling out of the ocean, standing upright, fire, the wheel to skyscrapers,3D television, airplanes and Mars probes in a couple thousand years?
 WE ARE AWESOME!
Any alien nation can SUCK ON THAT!
I think it's terrible that one of our most interesting minds thinks so little of our humanity given he's a 68 year old renowned astrophysicist who should have died from his ailments 40 years ago.
Have a little Faith, people.
