With Texas textbooks whitewashing stuff like slave trade and the Jim Crow Laws from their pages, Larry Wilmore stops by storytime to talk to some kids.

Remember the Texas textbook controversy from a few years ago, in which it was proposed that a few huge things—like slavery, the KKK, and the Jim Crow laws— be eradicated from the pages of students’ history books? Not only have those changes now taken effect, but the state also recently passed a bill that won’t allow professors to fact-check their textbooks, meaning kids can expect to learn a dishonest history of the U.S. for at least the next ten years, when the textbook standards will be updated again. With all this in mind, Wilmore visited a school to teach kids some real facts—about how f#&%ed up this whole thing is.
