For 10 weeks, Mark Haub, a professor of human nutrition at Kansas State University, ate (Twinkies) every three hours, instead of meals. To add variety in his steady stream of Hostess and Little Debbie snacks, Haub munched on Doritos chips, sugary cereals and Oreos, too.
The premise held up: On his “convenience store diet,” he shed 27 pounds in two months.
While I’m sure people will now debate whether or not a Twinkie diet is good for your health (it’s not – debate over), here’s a better question: What kind of a school has a professor of human nutrition who is 27 pounds overweight? I mean, when you lose 27 lbs from eating Twinkies, it’s probably because you simply reduced your intake of Twinkies. Reduced calories = reduced weight. I bet he’s the math professor too.
It should be noted that Mr. Haub doesn’t have any affiliation with Twinkies. It should also be noted that Jared didn’t have any affiliation with Subway before his experimental diet. Food for thought (yeah, I said that).
