Now that’s what we call dedication.
Here’s something you don’t see everyday: a fan so dedicated to his own music that he’s willing to actually show up and see himself perform live.
Reggie Barnsmith has been performing experimental noise shows for over 3 years, and he hasn’t missed a show yet.
“If I don’t show up I can’t expect anyone else to show up either,” says Reggie, who performs under the moniker Crucifux.
In an increasingly digital world, it’s reassuring to meet Reggie, a young man who isn’t afraid to throw himself into the lions den of live underground music. Though mostly performing in the comfort of his own apartment, Reggie still considers his perfect attendance a large accomplishment.
Reggie attributes his dedication to an experience early in his career:
“I’ll never forget it. I had just moved into a new apartment and I was performing at my housewarming party. The noise was so harsh, so deafening, that it forced everybody out of my apartment and into the bar across the street. When I realized everyone had left, I thought to myself: ‘I’m gonna go see what they’re doing.’ Then it hit me, I had bailed on my own show. I made a promise to myself that day, and I haven’t missed a show since.”
Now that’s inspiring. We could all take a page from Reggie’s book.
