It was announced this week that author Harper Lee will publish a sequel to her seminal 1960 Pulitzer Prize–winning novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, entitled Go Set A Watchman. However, critics who have seen advance manuscripts are accusing Lee of publishing the exact same book, albeit with the inclusion of several references to “vape tricks.” Check out these passages from the forthcoming book and decide for yourself (video links below provided by Funny Or Die for clarity):

“Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I first knew it … somehow, it was hotter then: a black dog suffered on a summer’s day; bony mules hitched to Hoover carts flicked flies in the sweltering shade of the live oaks on the square. Men’s stiff collars wilted by nine in the morning, and their sick vape tricks died in the heavy, humid air. Even the powerful Dragon would fall limply to dusty ground, stultified by the oppressive heat.”

— Chapter 1

“'First of all,‘ Atticus said, 'If you can learn a simple vape trick, Scout, you’ll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you see things from his point of view — until you climb into his skin and understand what a double tornado looks like from his perspective.’”

— Chapter 4

“Two live oaks stood at the end of the Radley lot … something shiny was sticking out of a knot-hole just above my eye level, winking at me in the afternoon sun. I stood on my tiptoe, hastily looked around once more, reached into the hole, and withdrew two V2 Pro Series 3 vape pens — some of the best e-cigs on the market, known for producing huge plumes.”

— Chapter 7

“‘The one place where a man ought to get a square deal is in a courtroom, be he any color of the rainbow,‘ Atticus said. 'But people have a way of carrying their resentments right into a jury box. As you grow older, you’ll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don’t you forget it — spend a lot of time learning the basic ghost inhale, because it provides the basis for many other, more advanced tricks.’”

— Chapter 10

“‘I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you stare those motherfuckers down anyway and blow double rings around your middle finger.’”

— Chapter 12

“…but as I gazed at him in wonder the tension slowly drained from his face. His lips parted into a timid smile, and Boo Radley’s image blurred with my sudden tears. And also blurred because I power-vaped the room with the biggest cloud I could muster.”

— Chapter 18

“‘Naw, Jem, I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks.’ I said, unleashing the Jellyfish — my trillest vape trick — just as the heaviest drop I’d ever heard blasted from the phonograph.“

— Chapter 29
