I went to see Watchmen last night and wasn't overly surprised to see that the audience was prodominatley male. After all, comic book movies are aimed at the male gender, supposedly.

What I thought was great though, was the males who had their girlfriends with them, no doubt after much fighting, screaming, kicking, protesting, "I want to see Confessions of a Shopaholic" type demands. They finally gave in and sat through 2 and a 3 quarter hours of graphic violence just for their chaps.

I say this because I like to watch the audience reaction to the film we're all in the same room watching from time to time. I saw the sighs, the heads resting on the shoulders (quick nap time....that's what that's about) and mostly, the leaning in and "I'm going to ask you a question. What the fuck is going on in this movie?" movement.

I'd like to think that out of all the girls in that audience last night, me and my good mate Amy were the only ones who had read the Graphic Novel, could quote what lines were coming up and just sat there thinking "Oh my god.....this fucking ROCKS!"

But all due respect to the girls who went to see it, begrudgingly, just to make their comic book lovin' boys happy. You deserve free tickets to "Confessions of a Shopaholic" for sure!
