What's funnier than Japan's catastrophic earthquake, devastating tsunami, and the possibility of a nuclear meltdown threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of people? If you're comedian Gilbert Gottfried or rapper 50 Cent, nothing.
Proving that Twitter is no place for trigger-happy texting fingers, both Gottfried and Mr. Cent found themselves in hot water Monday after tweeting a series of disaster-themed jokes about the happenings in Japan.
Gottfried, who most Americans known as the voice of the Aflac duck, was dumped by the insurance company after learning about one of his Twitter missives which read:
"Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them."
Not to be outdone, comedic legend 50 Cent got in on the fun, splitting sides with the following 140-character laugh line:
"Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoe's from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol"
No word on how much out loud laughing actually ensued.
Advice for 50: Don't quit your day job (unless that really does include Pacific Rim pimpin'.)
Advice for Gottfried: Test out your jokes on a live audience before sending them out on Twitter.
