I hate to spoil the fun, but most children's books are socialist in nature. They teach kids to share and that everyone is equal. And if you don't buy into it, the moral character will make you do it. America was founded on taking as much as you want and then taking some more. Don't you tell me that people are hungry, I need another Big MAC.
There are forces against this though. Why do you think reading scores are so bad? There is even a stronger force though named Dr. Seuss. He started out doing politcal cartoons, and if you look at some of the stories they are very pro-capitalism.
Those Whos in Whoville needed their god damned consumerist holiday no matter what. Even if a monster from behind the iron curtain wanted to take it from them. The use of song was just an allusion to radiation, aka the nuclear arms build up.
