Common situation: you and a friend are talking. You say something and then your friend says, “That’s funny,” but doesn’t laugh. Does that mean what you said was or wasn’t funny? And if your comment wasn’t meant to be funny, does that mean your friend wasn’t paying attention or isn’t that smart? What are other examples of disconnect between emotions and words?
