Have you ever met your "double?"
Just today, I went to grab a bite to eat during my lunch break. I noticed that the guy working the cash register kept looking at me.
Finally, he walked over and asked, "Are you related to Heath?"
"Who?" I asked in return.
"Dude, you look just like my manager's boss, Heath," he informed me. "Nope," I said, "don't know him. And I feel sorry for him if he has to walk around with an ugly mug like mine."
"Ha…ha," he laughed nervously, "don't say that man."
Years ago, a guy I know from work told me I looked just like a good friend of his, who happened to front a band.
"Really," I said. "Someone that ugly fronting a band. Hope he's a really good singer."
It ended up that his band came to town. I went to their show and our mutual friend introduced us. The first words out of our mouths, pretty much simultaneously, were, "Dude, you don't look anything like me!"
Chances are Heath doesn't either. Just as well. It's bad enough I have to look at this face every time I look in the mirror. I'd hate like hell to find out there's someone else out there doomed to the same fate.
