How Our Rating System Works
It’s simple. You vote to decide if videos are funny or should die a fiery death. Just watch a video, then click on the “Funny” icon or the “Die” icon to cast your vote. Videos are rated on a scale of 0% to 100% Funny.
Videos that are especially beloved, hated, or special may achieve a special status:
Chosen Ones: Chosen by Funny Or Die, this video shall live forever, like Thor or The Fonz. These videos have diplomatic immunity so votes don't affect them and and they can park where they want.
Immortal: A badge of honor, this video has at least 100,000 views and is rated over 80% Funny. Like Bea Arthur, this video will live forever, and has earned immunity from the opinions and votes of mere mortals.
The Crypt: This video has at least 1,000 views and is rated under 20% Funny, which means it has flat lined. You've killed it. It was watering the garden like Brando at the end of The Godfather and fell over while the hose kept spraying.
When a video reaches Immortal status it shall make people laugh forever (even ten thousand years from now when mankind becomes floating orbs of energy. If they can laugh, those future orbs will be laughing at your video). But videos that get too many "Die" votes go to The Crypt where they languish in comedy hell. If you don't want to mess around with lame videos of twelve year olds rapping at a family barbecue then vote "Die" whenever you see a bad one, and keep checking the status of the video to see how it's doing.
But here's the thing: Sometimes the most unique comedy isn't necessarily the most accessible (e.g. Andy Kaufman, The Young Ones, Office Space). So, if you want, you can go in to The Crypt and vote "Funny" to resurrect a video.
Any way you slice it, Funny Or Die's voting system gives you the power to change the face of comedy. So what are you waiting for? Get to voting, already!
